Hi Dan3; You know, the real problem for Infineon if they pay off Rambus is that they will be at a disadvantage relative to the other memory makers, if the other memory makers manage to avoid making the payments. And that disadvantage could last for years.

I really doubt that there is any great enmity between Infineon and Rambus. As an example of this, note that Hitachi, despite carrying on with a lawsuit against Rambus for 6 months, didn't get a bad deal this past spring. I would think that Infineon would drag things on until they got such a great deal as to obviate the need to go on with it, (as Hitachi did), or until the other memory makers also agree to pay substantially similar rates.

It is my understanding that the suit was filed in Federal Court in Virginia. This court is known as the "Rocket Docket". "Rocket Docket" because of the speed that the cases are processed and discharged. Looks like Rambus doesn't want to wait 10 years spending 100$ million.

Rambus isn't going to get royalties from DDR or SDRAM that could justify its present capitalization.

I agree... And I thank Little Dick and his gang, heck I need someone to buy the shares I short. Every Dick buying 100 shares is my friend.
