<Richard Madly Raising $$> - SilkRoute Plans Two Share Sales in Singapore, Paper Says
By Cindy Lim

Singapore, Aug. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Silkroute Holdings Pte., 25 percent owned by Richard Li's Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd., will sell shares in its e-commerce company, ECnet Ltd., later this year, the Business Times reported, citing Wong Toon King, chairman and chief executive of ECnet and co-chairman of SilkRoute.

SilkRoute, which invests in Internet companies, announced in February plans to sell shares in Singapore. The company has now decided to first sell shares in ECnet and then float SilkRoute after that, the paper said.

ECnet, which is headquartered in California's Silicon Valley, may also sell shares on the Nasdaq. The company expects to be among the ten largest publicly traded companies in Singapore by 2003, with a market value of between S$3 billion ($1.75 billion) and S$10 billion.

``In the first stage I think our support will come from Asia,'' said Wong. ``(ECnet) has a very strong reputation in Asia (and is) beginning to make a name in the U.S. but globalization takes time.''
