Tie,

there may just be a Palm/Metricom deal working in the back ground, or Metricom could just make a plug-in Palm modem module.

The current services from cellular service provider will not be able to match the prices of Metricom, because
1) Metricom is using junk band.
2) Metricom is building a data only network.

But, if you want voice/data service, which I think will be offered very quickly by the cellular service providers, you will not consider Metricom no more. Besides, the cellular providers will give you much better services.

Maybe a 70$, 1000 10kbps narrowband voice/data minutes and 500 "broadband" 1X/GPRS data minutes can be offered, but I doubt GPRS will be that cheap. Who knows, I can be totally wrong here.
