If I thought an entity was paying someone by the response to bash my stock to make a profit and the 'bashers' were just mercenary tools, I would respond vigorously to cost the entity as much money as I could. If I were a 'paid basher' and had my compensation tied to the number of responses and the longs were foolish enough to try to save my employer money by not responding, I would renegotiate my compensation metrics.
