The point that I cant get past is the fact that every single day thousands of installs are done using in-house wiring.

A split for the modem, stick in a NIC, run some install software and I'm outta there. Thats why they can do it in 30 minutes to an hour. Thats whats gonna have to happen in my place or cable simply wont be an alternative. Most of the wiring is completely inaccessable.


Don't fret about the existing wiring. A good installer can run the proper cable to the proper location and even install an in-the-wall jack in about 30 minutes provided that the wall is an exterior wall. It's possible to submarine a wire to an interior wall from a crawl space or a basement too, but it might take a bit longer than 30 minutes.
