Don, it was your patient explanations that caused me to come up with my hot dog stand analogy. It's original intent was to prove you were missing something in your examples. That's why it was a sole proprietorship rather than a public company with many shareholders, BOD, and employees. But, the more I thought it through, the more I came around to your point of view. The only possible cost I can see is if I could have sold the option to buy the hot dog stand in the open market for a sum of money. But then I would have been stuck with having the unmotivated pimply faced kid managing the hot dog stand rather than Nathan the hot dog super genius. If I can get Nathan to work for less that the unmotivated pimply faced kid because he is motivated by the potential to be a world famous hot dog genius, that offsets that cost. I didn't include that in my example because I wanted it to be as simple as possible.

Regards,

Barb
