What an ambush Mark Haines just pulled on Compaq. He questioned his morning guest about her choice of Compaq as one of her buys. He brought all the old stuff out, much of which is now untrue, saying that even though they have some new products coming out, their server business isn't so good, their storage business isn't so good and they still sell pc's only to forecast, and that the street believes that Dell is eating their lunch. The analyst was visibly intimidated, and although she weakly mentioned the Wildfire line (not by name though), she basically pulled back on her recommendation and said Compaq isn't a good long term hold yet. Imagine how her firm's customers feel hearing that after knowing it was on the buy list. We all know the untruths in this story so I won't go into it, but Haines used to be one of the people I thought was okay, but he really does ambush the companies he doesn't own. We all know he owns AMAT and he kisses Morgan's butt every time he's on. Sickening.
