But in the end, your assertion that the current holding of gold by central banks being a subsidy, is only that - an assertion - your guess! Until we have proof one way or the other and we can be assured that our own government is not involved on the short side (either directly or through a subsidized schill) we neither have any way of knowing. We do have proof, though, Fannie & Freddie have been playing in the derivatives markets! Why do you suppose they won't disclose which ones????
