Marriage, per se, is not religious. Some religions make it a ceremony or a sacrament, but marriages are civil, otherwise people who belonged to no religious group could not get married.

The 'don't ask, don't tell" policy in the military is present because a gay person can be discharged for admitting they are gay.

Like PROLIFE you do not understand the underlying concepts of freedom and individual rights, which in a country based on liberty should be applied to all or else it is hypocrisy.

Individuals who were not afforded their inalienable rights in this country comprise a long, woeful list:

Indians (Native Americans)
Blacks (African Americans)
Hispanics
Chinese
Japanese
Irish
Jews
Homosexual men
Homosexual women

This lack of inclusion -- right from the start -- is one of America's greatest tragedies and shames.
