I don't read the car mags unless I have to wait at the barber shop. I saw a piece on CNN, CNBC or one of the car stations on cable recently. It seemed to have pretty good acceleration and the gas engine almost immediately fires once the gas pedal is employed.

Ice- I did my thesis on hybrid electrics in grad school back in 87. I thought it would be the wave of the future. Cheap oil kinda sidetracked it for a while, but I still see it as the best transition vehicle to wean folks off of pure IC vehicles.

BTW- gas powered golf carts work the same way. They shut off every time you stop them.
