Good ole Marvin ; it's a wonder to me how he has lived
so long.

Maybe plastic surgery contributes to longevity?

Once I was leaving a restaurant and ran into Marvin and
Harold (of Harold's in the Heights fame), who were entering
the restaurant. I would love to have still been inside to
see the expression on the manager's face. At that time
Marvin's toupe was still white (it's a more natural gray
now) and he was still wearing a white suit. He seemed to
be of average height, not particularly short as I recall.
I used to know a Channel 13 employee's spouse who told me
that Marvin required a bit of behind-the-scenes help getting
his reports taped ... had trouble pronouncing certain words,
etc. But he is a long-time legend credited with keeping
the station on top of the local ratings for several decades.

[For nonHouston DARians, Marvin Zindler is a consumer
affairs reporter on the local ABC affiliate. Every Friday
he gives a restaurant report listing all that failed the
city inspection in the past week, with the highlight for
kids and apparently lowbrow adults being a list of
restaurants that "had SLIIIIIME in the ice machine",
complete with a noisy cartoon. Bad TV, but it sells.]

Jim, How about the umteen face lifts he has had, and that awful white wig he wears? I don't think he has any of the original equipment.
