I used to make a SUPER mock pecan pie with oatmeal- it was VERY tasty.

I ride 100+ miles a week (uphill for half) on my bike and am primarily vegetarian. I'll still sneak in a little chicken, fish or mollusk once in a while. And I'm STILL overweight. I eat about a third of what I ate in college. I'm getting quite muscular though. And my pulse rate is way down. The challenge is to find tasty ways to eat greens. It's hard to blimp out on greens. But, you know, oil is a wonderful solvent for all those tasty aromatics. It keeps them around longer. Crown ethers are a very important component in fresh bread, fresh fried potatoes and some other very good smells/tastes. I worked with someone who's brother-in-law was hired to identify the "fresh bread smell". But the crown ethers have a very, very short half life and there appears to be no way to stabilize them.

I worked in a fast food place when I was 17. I only enjoy french fries and onion rings that are right out of the oil now. They should sizzle on your tongue. Even 1 minute later, there is a huge loss of flavor. They tossed them after 5 minutes but I don't really consider them good even after a minute or two. Just greasy starch compared to still smokin' ones.

I gave up on the Atkins- and lost weight becuase my stomach had shrunk I think. I could only tolerate so much bacon and eggs.
I refuse to give up my wine and I think it does get in the way.
What about Lemon Chess Pie? Or is that just Va?
Or Peanut Soup? (Virginia is very into colonial stuff.)
real mint juleps made with simple syrup.

Them damn yankees just ate baked beans, brown bread, boiled beef. Seemed they never got much beyond B's.
