The cost of providing service to either business or residential is the same, but the TELCO's have been screwing the business owners for years

Rob-

It's all in the way you look at it. Business lines subsidize residential. I'm sure Frank or somebody more familiar with POTS will correct me if I'm wrong, but residential service is regulated so the RBOCs make up what they can't make on residential phone service, by charging the difference to the business customers. When T had it all they made it up with outrageous charges for long distance.

I don't know about you but I'm seriously looking at any kind of options to get away from the RBOC for local phone service. When you start getting multiple lines, call forwarding, mailboxes, wireless, data & fax lines along with those pesky message units and charges for long distance access, etc, etc. all of a sudden the phone service line in your P&L starts to pop out at you. I'm looking at going all wireless for voice once I have a DSL line for data.
