Re: Downbinning amounts can be found from overclocking

that is hard to buy that there is sufficient amount of reliable overclocking data is available.

re: IMHO P4 will not outrun Tbird much less Mustang except for the standard Intel practice of hyping certain benchmarks specifically to show their CPU in the best possible light.

I hope so but intel is getting so good with those "more important" benchmarks. I recall when amd's fpu was weaker then the fpu (as per intel) was the processor and ip was just not important at all. Now with athlon vs pIII/p4 we find out that integer performance is important and fpu is really a dead weight (or dead silicon). :-))

re: Celeron II plus motherboard combos are now more expensive than same clocked Duron combos

you can always count on Elmer for upgrades to his dual celeron system to create celeron demand :-))

Keep in mind that SPECfp95/2000 performance is limited by memory bandwidth. You have loops burning through huge arrays. Willy's poor IPC will be compensated by higher memory bandwidth: 400MHz data rate vs 200/266MHz for Tbird.
