Paul:

I still think that WSTL stock has overreacted in a big way to the Verizon strike. The actual impact is likely to be very small on Westell.

Its the perception and uncertainity. If the strike goes over two weeks it will start to have impacts and not just on DSL. There was a lot of short covering two weeks ago @ $15 and I would expect that to be the bottom unless talks break off. If talks break off we go lower than $15. If they settle within the next couple of days the short covering can push the stock to $20 although we now have some resistance over $17.

Right now the market seems to be saying the strike will go on a little longer.

Auric has posted much FUD here. The company's balance sheet is in better shape than he posts. He was able to benefit on the insider selling at the same time the naz was retracing to 3,500. Just ignore it. Since the stock was $13 (not that long ago) WSTL has made inroads with SBC and had a blow out quarter. He'll cover as soon as he smells the strike ending.

VZ union threatens to walk off

dailynews.yahoo.com

This is a standard negotiation ploy. If I was the company I'd pull back the offer already on the table. Wouldn't be good for WSTL in the short term (the shorts would have a field day) but management can't let the unions dictate how to run the business. They either work together or it will ruin the company.
