I think you have made a very compelling case for yourself.
When is a good time to short Rambus and how much can you throw at it? Are you using your own money or other peoples money?

I got too much committed already to short this company but clearly you have it in your sights.

There are more than a couple of weak points in your arguments:

1)Hitachi does not seem to have had a strong reason to settle with Rambus as quickly as it did. Hitachi was moving into a joint venture with NEC.

At most they would have been liable for SDRAM and RDRAM production from April to December. Perhaps, the threatened interdiction of SEGA products and their SH microprocessors
was sufficient motivation. We will never know.

2)Hitachi tried to get the other Dram companies to join in the battle and none of them would.

3)The defenses put up by Hitachi are mutually contradictory.
The patent office after years of review awarded the patents so it seems that Hitachi had a weak case with that defense.
Then JEDEC apparently took the term DDR directly from RAMBUS which means RAMBUS told them about DDR which weakens the JEDEC defense a lot since everyone of the companies knew that RAMBUS had no other products other than its intellectual property and they had to sell their IP.

Texas Instruments was also a member of JEDEC and all the other DRAM companies have been paying them billions in royalties over the last decade. This also weakens any JEDEC case.

4) A strong argument can be made that JEDEC expropriated RAMBUS inventions because it did not have another way of addressing the meory bandwidth problem. Having expropriated the technology from Rambus after RAMBUS refused to issue a royalty free license to the JEDEC companies.

Lower human nature dictates that having stolen the perps then proceeded to victimize Rambus. JEDEC itself has been strangely silent in this matter but has allowed this issue
to cloud the future of Rambus. This seems whooly consistent with blaming the victim for the theft of the technology.

I guess I'll pass on your shorting proposition until you can come up with something solid.

:)

Look at www.dramreview.com for an explanation as to why you are an idiot.

So Mr. Pluvia have you been hired to badmouth rambus. Word on the boards is you have been hired by some of the Big Dram companies. Is that true?
Do you have a short position or are you here just to try and discredit Rambus??
Guess we will find out soon.
BTW recent news IBD has Rambus at the top of the Semi Group growth over 100% the last two quarters.
Edelstone from MSDW who is the number one semi analyst reitierated Rambus as an outperform with a target of $200 in 18 months.
Those tidbits BTW are from this week.
IDF August 22, that will be the day of reckoning for all the shorts.
See you then.
