I think trading is much the same, anyone can learn the mechanics and the setups ect..

So, you are saying great trading is more an art than exact science. Being discretionary trader, I completely agree. It takes us to next logical step probably: great teacher goes beyond teaching mechanics and setups, and helps to personalize one's trading, to apply personality... Not easy thing to do when dealing with couple hundred of students, huh?

As far as gurus go I dont suppose I am in a position to say much at all about them.

At least you could say you are the one with sound system and honest teaching <g>. I for one would be the last to argue :)

What I have found though from teaching others is that my own trading results have gotten a lot better the more I teach.

I noticed this effect, too. Earlier the same was admitted by one of the great thread contributors, I believe it was Palo Alto Trader (Steve, you are so silent...)
Kinda helps to define things better, keeps more disciplined... At the same time posting of own trades in real time applies additional pressure and might have some negative impact, too... Makes one feel like he is proving something while trading is so much about oneself, not about proving anything to anyone.
