Professional standards in the news biz seem to be in decline. The hiring of Kilborn by a major network is one example. Off the top of my head, I can recall several cases of sloppy journalism by "newsmagazine" shows - I'm thinking of the one which faked the exploding trucks plus John Stossel, who more than once hasn't let facts get in the way of his story.

Course I'm writing about stories big enough to get in the paper. I watch very little TV news myself. I'd rather watch the Simpsons or Third Rock reruns any day.
