Random points:

1) I paid $50 for my Rio last year (thank you Beyond.com and dot.com investors :). Beats a $300 to $500 solution.

2) I can jog with it and not notice it, which was the whole point. Try jogging with a CD player.

3) SanDisk CF card saga part 3: did I mention I got the replacement CF card pretty quickly? Took just a couple of days once I sorted things out with the CS rep.

4) I agree that buying an incremental CF card makes a lot more sense than spending heavily on an expensive solution. The flip side is that once you have a CF (or MMC) card, you are more likely to buy an unrelated device that uses that same form of storage.

Tumbleweed,

I enjoyed your post very much and your points are well taken. I can't argue with "neat gizmos" and cool. (g)

There is however a vast difference between the digital camera market and MP3 players. Digital cameras allow users to do what they were previously unable to do. Flash memory MP3 players just allow people to do the same thing they can do with other types of MP3 players. I think the market for the MMP flash cards will be huge! I just think it will come from a slightly different direction.

Here are two of posts which cover the subject and the questions you asked.

Hey, it's just one person's opinion. I could be wrong.
