ADIC not really in EMC market

ADIC is more "near-line" than "online" storage using automated tape libraries (juke-boxes) as their bulk storage, and connecting those to a much faster. disk and ram based, NAS-like front-end to deliver the up-front speed and access.

They really serve a different market (geophysics/seismic processing springs to mind) compared with EMC's big corporate database targets. OTOH, if ADIC gets it right, they are the perfect SAN tools for quality backup of NTAP, EMC, etc. equipment (its a big problem for the disk co.s .. how to back up all that data without choking the front-end, user network).

Trouble is ... in the storage world ... tape just ain't sexy, so they get a lower P/E coz they aren't seen as bleeding edge and far to go ... they ought to be at a P/E of around 50-100 though, in a world which was fair ...
