I am very curious about the "chip" you have referred to. Aside from your mention of it, I seem to vaguely recall seeing the concept of a "chip" related to fuel economy (or performance) in some way mentioned somewhere else too.

So, at the risk of sounding very stupid, what kind of chip can be replaced in a vehicle to improve fuel economy or performance? TIA

Edit: BTW, welcome back!

Troy

Hi SI Bob,

I'll be broadcasting today from the cottage on Elkhart Lake. The INDY cars, Barber/Dodge series, TransAm and some other groups are racing here this weekend. Jane and I are heading to the track later today. So, race fans, tune into your favorite channel over the weekend for the 200 mile (50 lap) Indycar race and whatever else they put on the air.

It's a beautiful day here in SE Wisconsin and I'm sure the cars will like the cool dense air. It's fun to be a spectator on such a nice day, too. Mario took me aside last night at Siebkin's Bar and asked if I'd take over for Michael in case he's not "up to speed." Jane said it would be okay with her, but wants to be on the podium with me if I win. So, look for the bearded old fart with the Valvoline had on and the good looking chick at his side, that will be us. If I don't get to drive, just look for us along the fences.

I was able to take out of town SI friends, Keith and Steve, to the cottage for a quick tour of the area.

Unfortunately there wasn't anything going on at the track that day. It's a bit remote here in Elkhart Lake and I'm having to make a long distance call to post my messages. That seems to be working better than my new DSL line I had installed by Ameritech yesterday at the office! Wouldn't you know that the day I get my "High Speed Connection" would be the day that Ameritech.net's server would crash!

Best regards,
