About your comments on the military, this administration is responsible for gutting our armed forces not only in a materiel sense but in terms of the quality officers and men who have refused to "re-up" while the First Fornicator is in charge. I agree with your comments about the lack of leadership by the higher echelons with respect to Clintonian policies. Who would have ever imagined that the brass hats would actually have to issue specific orders cautioning the troops to show the CIC "proper respect"? But I think the problems in the military stem not only from the loss of good men and lack of materiel, low pay, etc. but from the sense that the armed forces have been misused by this administration. The services have been used for purposes other than ones which could be reasonably related to our national security. That is the real purpose of the military. It is the fundamental problem from which all the others flow I believe. JLA
