OT chic-- How fast do you drive? Will some random person feel the need to get in an accident? Will 10 random sobs in suvs or minivans feel the need to occupy the leftmost possible lane and hinder traffic? I'd say expected value is 45 minutes.

re: how long it will take me to get to SF airport from South San Jose tonight? 9:30 flight
that takes at least 50 minutes with no traffic. You should give 1.5 hours for the travel. Add one hour for the "early arrival" of airlines and you should leave at 7pm.

Chic,

I would leave at least 1:15 to get to the SF airport. I suggest taking 280 north to 380, east on 380 to 101, and south 1 mile to the airport. Try to avoid 101, because you never know how screwed up it is going to be in the evening.
