Albeit OT this discussion on tech-replacement is good for us to put Last Mile Techs in the right perspective. Legacy is strong. New tech may be flashier and all that but it won't run over existing technologies and markets unimpeded.

Telex is the only one network and technology that was swept under the carpet without a fight.

It had everything against it:
It was clunky. It was printed in a paper that resembled toilet paper. It required an special operator. It was prone to failure since it had lots of moving parts. The only thing it had for it it was that its print outs had legal recognition.

The fax -a technology from the 20's came along and killed the telex.

Secondly, it is not price only or technologic prowess who'll decide the winner. We have to see how much pluses the existing technology has. If it has too many it is condemned.

But if it has just a few minuses it can be with us for a while.
