Good question, I'll ask the next time I run into him. I suppose that if the cable/wave guide is more linear than the one you used, then there would be less dispersion. The military does tend to use the best stuff available...

By the way, I've found plenty of links referencing the technology, but no data sheets, yet. Here's a typical link showing where Proteus is used on the Orion aircraft:

I should reiterate that none of this applies to the Rambus patents, as they are not claiming invention of the concept of clocking data with both edges. If they were, they would be asking AMD for royalties on the Athlon DDR bus interface, for instance.
