Neo--

I can't tell whether you had a good time or not, but am sure you did-- Paris in August is usually very quiet.

We leave for Paris in two weeks, but will only be there a day or so before we float up the Rhine on a barge. Although all we plan to do is eat and drink, it will be French wine and cheese, and thus acceptable as an international experience.

I would tell you about my trip to Mexico, but it would involve bathrooms and is not pleasant.

Did you buy crepes doused with liqueur and sugar at the little grills on Montmartre? that was our favorite activity.
Our least favorite excursion was the Eiffel Tower, where I almost got into a fist fight with a very tiny, very rude Indian woman.

Hi Neo, I've been reading through the posts about your trip. So Paris was not quite what you expected? I was surprised to hear there is quantity over quality at the Louvre, a place I always thought had the creme de la creme. I knew that Americans had acquired many masterpieces, but all the good stuff? You described the contemporary collection at the Pompidou Center as chauvinistic. I've never heard paintings described that way. What does that mean?

It sounds like your trip was an exhausting whirlwind. I think if I ever go there I'll skip the packaged tour. Judging by your last post, you were really glad to be home.
