NYSE asked Brush Engineered about unusual stock activity

NEW YORK, Aug 14 (Reuters) - The New York Stock Exchange on Monday said it requested that Brush Engineered Materials Inc. (NYSE: BW) issue a statement on whether there have been any corporate developments that may explain its unusual market activity.

Shares of Brush Engineered hit a new 52-week high of 22-1/4 on Monday after closing at 18-5/8 on Friday. The shares last traded up 2-1/4 at 20-7/8, well above a 52-week low of 12-15/16 and also above a previous 52-week high of 19-3/8.

Cleveland-based Brush Engineered, formerly known as Brush Wellman, said its policy was not to comment on unusual market activity, the NYSE said.

The company produces and supplies beryllium, alloy, electronic and precious metal products, as well as engineered material systems.
