Are you living there full time...?
Is there some kind of permenent residence status?
I've heard non Mexicans couldn't own property on the beach?

Jim-

We live here full time. We spend a month or so in the States every year.
There are several residency statuses (stati?). Most Americans who live here have an FM3, allowing them to bring in as much household goods as they want and a car. Also, you don't have to cross the border every 6 months like you do with a tourist card.
You can't outright own property within 60k of a coast or border, but you get a 50 year trust, renewable for successive 50 year periods, with beneficiaries in case of death. Feels just like ownership. We have already bought and sold one property, and couldn't tell the difference. Even this is supposed to change in the next couple years. NAFTA provided for full ownership by Americans/Canadians and Fox has said he will speed that along.
