Maverick:

September thru December shaping up awesomely for AMD!!! 7 million processors in Q3 and 9 million in Q4 (not to mention potential growth rate for 2001). With an increasing ASP, wonder how much additional eps those incremental 2 million Athys will contribute in Q4...Heck, based on 1200 Athys in Q1, AMD earned $1.15...Wonder how much they'll earn in Q4 when 7.6 Athys, 3.6 million of which are "incremental" over Q3 Athys (i.e lower margins in addition to Q3 base eps) are shipped...$3.00 in Q4 is very conservative from this perspective!!!

Mav,
RE:"ML:Mid-cycle correction over, rec'd AMD ATML NSM,upward forcast due to ASP
Excerpts fr Merrill Lynch Research 8/18/00
Highlights:
• Today we are releasing our quarterly industry update.
• The concerns that underpinned our mid-cycle correction thesis are beginning to dissipate, and semiconductor stocks globally are well below their March highs. We believe that the mid-cycle correction has ended – we would advise investors to begin buying semiconductor more aggressively."

Of course you realize that ML has already bought and is now in the "pump up" stage?
