<< then I logically would expect somebody (who has delved so
deeply into MRVC) to buy undervalued and sell at full or fair valued.>>

Why? I have NO TAX CONSEQUENCES to such a sale. Why should I not play all the big and little cycle peaks?

IMO, ALL prices that MRVC has traded at (with the exception of last February-March) are undervalued - just more or less so.

I sold some today, thinking I can buy it back cheaper on Monday or Tuesday, before the FED announces it's decision on rates.

Long term, you would NOT believe what I think MRVC will someday sell for. I plan on being here for that.

But that has NO effect on my buy-sell decisions in my tax deferred accounts.

As I said before, we just have completely different styles. If they both work and we each are comfortable with them, fine.

<<If it's to determine fair value of a
stock- the undervalued nature of a stock- then I logically would expect somebody (who
has delved so deeply into MRVC) to buy undervalued and sell at full or fair valued>>
ahhh...but here's the kicker... stocks (and the overall market) almost never stop at "fair value" or even a reasonable range.... the pendulum almost always swings much farther in both directions than is logical. thus, finding that irrational point on both sides of the pendulum is what i largely consider one of the main components of successful investiing....now, off to the falcons game.

Thanks for the quotation Paul. I hadn't realized that my words had such a profound effect on you.

I would not be surprised to see MRVC briefly retrace to the low 60s. Should it do so, I will be selling additional put options with a September expiration. The premiums are extremely attractive and will help me reduce my margin balance (once they expire).

I may sell slightly in the money puts to increase the chance that I will get the stock.

Current MRVC puts:

~Break even
Sept 65P 5 5/8 to 6 1/8 59 1/8
Sept 70P 8 to 8 1/2 61 3/4
Sept 75P 10 7/8 to 11 5/8 63 3/4
Sept 80P 14 1/4 to 15 65 3/8
