I am a philosophical theist. I do not agree with any specific doctrines sufficiently to belong to a particular church, and I am a religious liberal, thinking that God cuts a pretty big break to anyone trying to make the best of their circumstances. I do believe in providence, and the power of prayer.

I was raised according to the tenets and practices of Conservative Judaism before my parents were divorced, when I was 10. A couple of years later, my mother, a convert to Judaism, went back to the Roman Catholic Church, and I spent my teens in the church until college. However, I was a pantheist at 14, and an atheist at 16. By 18, I became a theist again, and I have spent time as a Jew and Catholic. I have been unaffiliated for a dozen years, though.........
