Maybe I've been laboring in amongst the trees too long and need to get up on a hill so I can see the forest. Isn't the "invisible crises" now visible? Isn't it here - NOW?! I mean we've been waiting sooooo long for these days, I guess I just didn't recognize them when they finally showed up! Oh yes things will get worse this winter, for sure. But look at what's happening - NOW! Oil prices are at levels not seen since the Gulf War - when Saddam was blowing Kuwaiti wells to smithereens. Only THIS time the problem will NOT be solved by dumping some SPR oil on the market and putting out fires in the desert. Crude stocks are the lowest in 26 years. As soon as new crude is produced it is sopped up. Any disruption of supply anywhere along the supply chain will cause major spikes in either product or raw commodity. I almost can't believe it! I think it's finally sinking in. This problem simply is not going away any time too soon. There is nothing politicians can do for now. There is nothing OPEC can do for now. The only thing that will really "solve" this problem is a tremendous amount of drilling, drilling, drilling, and yet more drilling. Can we really use '97 as a benchmark any more? Not only is this the situation with oil, but also with NG. Double whammy. How far will E&P and OS stock prices go? I don't have a clue anymore. But one thing is clear, the only thing that can stop the Boom 2000 train now is a major recession somewhere. Hey Big when its all over, write a novel will ya? How about 2001 - An Oil Patch Odyssey? Just put in a scene were Slider is dressed up in a space suit saying "Open the pod bay doors, HAL" better yet "My God! It's full of STARZ! - SELL NOW!" <VBG> Send me a signed copy, ok?
