Thanks for the info.I'm glad that Dell is not releasing the ME CD's until Nov. as it should give them ample time for the inevitable bug "fixes".

Damn, I've got to quit working with vi. I got my Windows ME disk yesterday and typed up a couple paragraphs and then hit escape (like in vi to get out of edit mode). Zap, no more paragraphs.

Oh well, the new condensed version is that I did a clean install on a backup Toshiba 4010CDT laptop that had slowed down incredibly and needed reformatting. It was flaky to start, but since I downloaded all the updates it's been completely stable. IE 5.50.4134.0600 is quite snappy. In fact it loads next posts here faster than my cable modem on Win2000 AS. (Same IE version). Of course, I downloaded the registry changes from the cable modem adsl site this morning and the Win2000 internet connection has actually seemed to have more hestitation. Oh well.
I'm sure I'll see more as I install office premium and other software over the next few days.
