Not at all. When Sun bought Forte and consolidated all their development tools under the Forte division, the only piece of SynerJ (that which was to become FJEE) which left to go to iPlanet was the server components, which they had long before admitted were things available from a number of sources, by and large (not counting some non-trivial bits of value-add)

You don't need new development tools- any Java development tool can be used - its just Java code!

And you can just arrange all the right 1s and 0s too, but I sure wouldn't want to have to do it that way.

I would suggest you spend a little time at java.sun.com as there is very good information there on J2EE.
