franco,

i remember shavers and his bald head and heavy, heavy hands and his somewhat awkward off-balance, bouncing forward style quite vividly.

i remember ron lyle also as a man who served time for murder (i think in colorado) and who had tough luck inside the ring as well as outside. but he was always a banger, and he always came to fight.

it would seemingly be impossible for me to mix them up, yet i have somehow crossed the cables and created something that never took place!

i'll let it rest, but not before saying that the one fighter i am most able to recall in all this is ron lyle. so i guess it was big george, as you've said all along.

back on shavers, i recall seeing him being roundly and soundly beaten in one particular fight, backed into the corner, head down, bent over at the waist, and While Staring At The Canvas.... throwing a tremendous overhand right that caught the opponent flush and dropped him like a bad habit on the spot!! maybe that was the holmes fight.

appreciate you filling in these blanks, btw <g3>.

:)
