Let me correct a perceived mistaken assumption on your part.
The Fab investments are not part of the venture group hence the 15% commission does not apply to those investments whose value dwarfs that of the venture funds investments. however ultimately profits from sale of those investments could certainly flow into the venture funds unless the venture funds are spun off into a separate entity. The venture fund investments have little to do with the company's ongoing operations and are more like lagniappe both for the company and especially its insiders.
If you are interested in egregious shareholder abuse I suggest you read the article in Barrons about the Rockefeller Center REIT. After reading that it seems that the ultimate thievery occurs on Wall Street as investor pockets continually are picked by those with a fiduciary responsibility and that the legal system offers no real protection. The only solution seems to be to keep a list of those who screw investors and stop doing business with them.
