I think you may be confusing "beams" and "frequencies" when you say "channels". Going back to your calculations:

By "channel" I was referring to the 1.25-MHz passband. Agreed that Globalstar also has 16 spot beams on both uplink and downlink.

This is not possible, there are a fewer number of usable Walsh codes than 130!

Just adjust your accepted SNR. Not certain what Globalstar uses but capacity can be adjusted up or down by modifying the acceptable signal to noise ratio.

You do have some very valid points about handoff issues and capacity which I had not considered. I will need to think more about how those affect overall capacity, but in general agree with you. Taking this into account would decrease my estimate by a factor of 2 which would put us close to agreement on the capacity. I usually try to do Feynmann calculations so being off by a factor of 2 is certainly possible. :)
