No I don't think so.

I think that it has become very fashionable to blame intel every time a company doesn't meet their sales expectations. It means that they don't have to take the blame themselves.

Asus blamed intel, then stated that the corporate end of their business, which made up 20% of their business was "soft". Compaq blames intel, and in the next breath says "customers being told that while the problems started with a lack of 700MHz Pentiums other difficulties have now kicked in. While Intel has done its best to turn this picture round, now other component difficulties are rubbing away at the raw wound, we understand.

"Other Component Difficulties". Sounds just like the general computer part shortage, that has recently been plastered all over the news..... yet.... all Mikes headline reads is "Compaq Furious At Intel Server Delays".

All I know is that intel exceeded their server processor order commitments for Q1 and Q2, and is ahead of orders for Q3.

To tell you the truth, I'm really sick of Mike Magee. I wish that I had saved that e-mail that I got from Andrew Thomas, one of the other Reg writers. I wrote to him, and casually mentioned that I thought that Mike might not be too impartial towards intel, and when he wrote back, his comment was "Yeah, He Hates Them".

To me, that says it all.
