Yes, it was. However, I got the same windows protection error after leaving the system off over night. It boots properly now after some fiddling around with safe mode, renaming, normal boot, renaming, normal boot. Since, I repeatedly got the error before, it is more stable. Anyway, at this point I am going to back things up and install Windows ME and see what happens.
