Frank re <<Have you ever wondered why almost all the people on the face of the planet who think that Intel's capital gains are bad are AMDroids?>>

That is no where close to being accurate. Analyst and media have been extremely critical of Intel in this regard.

And I am sure all the INTC investor will also be critical after the capital gains diminish and year over year comparisons will look poor.

Hi frank:

Just no reason of a fundamental nature not to be highly optimisitic about AMD's growth rate over the foreseeable future...I must say, I just don't have the same level of confidence in INTC's near term prospects given the "microprocessor production pickle" that seems currently very evident at INTC...Like I said before...no problem here holding AMD at $70, but all kinds of uneasiness for me holding INTC at $70...Just looks from my vantage point like 2 companies going in opposite directions on the micrprocessor front...Maybe INTC will weather the current storm by transitioning out of microprocessors into merchant banking where no doubt they seem to exhibit much greater expertise, by any recent standard of measurement!!!

Why people here feel like beating up Intel the stock is beyond me, because it's intel's technology that either will or won't beat AMD not how they treat capital gains on their books. Just part of the grand pissing contest, my stock is better than your stock game I suppose.

Frank- I own some share in a closed end mutual fund consisting of liquid securities. The manager of that fund sells (converts to cash) a little bit of such holdings every year, and dubs it "earnings." Some under pressure from the fund, some "Analyist" decides to value my shares using price to earning ratios as opposed to the book value. The market sees that such sales consecutively increase and proclaims that "earnings are accelerating." I decide to sell my shares to someone who believes the analyst's valuation.

If you are that person, then let me recommend some great "companies" in Albania.

Re: Are 'droids really that much smarter than the rest of us?

you are to be assimilated.....

We, 'droids, are very dumb bunch - we can not figure out how financial gains can deserve high tech pe. We also so dumb that we can not figure out the 'bees logic behind the demand for higher pe for intel as it converts from technology co to financial

Yes, we are dumb and we are proud of it :-))
