Everyone should send the author of the CNet article a note about his lack of objectivity. Maybe he can make it a little more balanced before everyone reads it tomorrow morning. This is what I sent him:

Mike,

In your article, you state: "Though analysts have expressed varying opinions on how well the Pentium 4 will perform, Yu said the NetBurst architecture will bring several new capabilities to the market. "

However, of the "varying concerns", you neglect to include any of the negative reports that have surfaced. Inquest and Microdesign Resources have both expressed concern about the performance of the Pentium 4; as can be found in this IBD article:

investors.com

The actual performance of the Pentium 4 in existing real world applications could swing the balance of power between Intel and AMD in the next few years to come, and it is an extremely important issue to be examined objectively. I fear that CNet has become a PR extension of Intel Corporation.

Sincerely,
Pravin Kamdar.
