WSTL held down because of SBC ramp delay. See link below. Looks like they only added 36K lines to mid-August, given they had about 399K at end of June. They added 198K last quarter.

They are still very bullish for the quarter and the year. One thing holding up is equipment delays! I don't know how the market translates that as a negative for wstl.

The Compaq bundle has an internal modem. Probably a 3Com or an Efficient based on the equipment listed on the customer service pages. This may eat some into some WSTL sales.

Note that many ISPs use SBC and VZ for the the DSL lines and also use WSTL modems. Earthlink posted great news today. They are probably adding 20K per month. Many of those will be the WSTL self-install modems.
