The answer is yes to all questions there is gold in your Palm, cellular phone and in millions of connectors throughout the communication system. There may be glass in the transmission lines but everywhere that gets converted back to electrical signals (even you can't hear light waves yet) you will find gold and even a little silver....

I know that it is fashionable to pretend that gold has no major industrial uses but that is simply not true. Almost all quality circuit boards use some gold as do almost all quality electrical connectors used in communication systems of all types.
