the timing is curious.
Two years from the filing of papers with discrepencies to the notice from the IRS? no that pretty much matches my experiences. It takes time to cross-coorelate all those computer tapes. The number is also not unusual, more than 90% of people who's forms don't match coorelation will get a notice. I get one every couple of years, about 1/2 the time an additional document gets the item dropped and the other 1/2 we send in a check. A good CPA can help a lot.
