TB,
I think there is an overgeneralization of public schools ALL being failures. Most of the failing schools happen to be in minority dominated areas along with Appalachia. Although liberals hate to admit it, their policies to help the minorities has been an utter failure. Their policies have led to the breakdown of two parent families and the onset of Government dependency. Many public school educated children are going on and leading successful lives. Most of them have parents who care about them and push them. The black community has for a good percentage, not taken care of their own. Many are born to teen mothers with no father and don't get the chance many others do. The political leaders they have backed, i.e., Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakhan, are more worried about Africa than ensuring the American black community is able to work their way up the chain. Many have, but too many have been led to believe others are responsible for supporting them. Until that mindset is changed, public schools in those areas will continue to fail.knc
