ATI joins leading players from the Computer and Datacasting industries to promote digital broadcast technology for the PC

SAN JOSE, CA, Aug. 21 /CNW-PRN/ - Intel Developers Forum - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE: ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT) has joined 13 other companies to announce the formation of the PC DTV Promoters Group, which will market and seek to accelerate adoption of digital broadcast receivers and DTV technology for the PC. The Group was established to promote awareness of the PC as the ideal platform for receiving enhanced digital television programming, HDTV and high bandwidth datacasting services.

Members of the PC DTV Promoters Group include: ATI Technologies, Inc., Broadlogic, Conexant, Intel, and Microsoft as well as 9 other key companies. Each company offers hardware or software that enables PC users to receive digitally broadcast signals from terrestrial stations, cable services or satellite providers.

The Promoters Group will demonstrate PC DTV solutions for OEM and retail markets, including broadcasts from local DTV stations and from Intel's Center for Datacasting Innovation, during the IDF Demo Showcase, in San Jose, California, August 21 to August 24, 2000 at Booth No. 1040.

The PC DTV Promoters Group has been established to provide consumers with practical information on PC DTV technology and to raise PC users' awareness of new applications that put digital television on the PC. Members of the PC DTV Promoters Group offer the technical solutions and information that consumers need to make an informed decision about investing in DTV technology.
