John, i guess it all depends on whether the synchronized global upswing is sustainable. if it isn't, it will push the global Hubbert peak out a few years. the only major new fields i am aware of are those in the Caspian sea...still only a drop in the bucket. the last major discovery in the West was Prudhoe Bay, a field the recovery rates of which are already in decline.
