Mark and all Seagate owners.

What do you plan on doing with your Veritas shares once the deal is complete? I am assuming it will pass.

As a former Seagate shareholder and current VRTS short, I have some interest in this transaction. I think that most Seagate shareholders fall into two categories. 1)Old time Seagate owners who bought for the grossly undervalued drive business or the unrealized value of the assets. 2) Arbs that came aboard to pick up the spread between the market price and the deal price.

Either way, I don't see many SEG shareholders hanging on to their Veritas for very long. Much like the way the Sabre Group was sold down after its spinoff from AMR.

With a large amount of potential selling in VRTS, I would expect it to come under quite a deal of price pressure after the deal is done. In my opinion, the shares of VRTS have held up remarkably well in this market where ultra-high priced stocks have been taking their lumps.

[Edit] I don't have a very big short position so don't think I am trying to play the rude short here.
