Here's another tid bid on OC-192 news from this weeks IDF:
semibiznews.com

At this week's Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Jose, Intel plans to demonstrate a server capable of supporting OC-192 for 10-Gbit/sec. transmission rates, Stelliga said.

Of course, this being INTC, there's obviously no point in asking what flavor DRAM this server will contain. I suppose we'll just have to wait for the year end IDF to see if "Man bites dog".

NightOwl, "Itanic slips again" has to be the dog bites man story of the year. If you substitute "Merced" for "Itanic", it would be the dog bites man story of the last 4 years, at least, since it was first due in '97 or so. Itanic had already been downplayed (off and on, depending on the PR needs of the moment) to "technology preview for McKinley" for at least a year, so calling anything to do with IA-64 "big news" is, um, stretching it.

Cheers, Dan.
