Ted, Why take the chance and do nothing, or worse, do a lot of analysis and study. I think it there is one contribution our generation can make is to actually come up with computational models that can bring more understanding and some level of consensus. We have very little of either one right now. Why not curb our excesses so that we don't have repeats of the Willamette River or Cuyahoga, or the Amazon rain forests. I am all for people curbing their own excesses and for doing what's in their power to spread the idea to their friends and neighbors. I would hesitate about the government's involvement until we have some idea about what we are doing and a consensus that it is the right approach. Joe
